The music of acoustic guitarists Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero harnesses the flash, power, and speed of death metal filtered through the passion, soul, technique, and discipline of nuevo flamenco. Their showy, emotional sound is marked by Quintero’s syncopated, hooky, percussive rhythms and rapid-fire strummed vamps framing Sanchez’s incendiary, melodic, single-and dual-string leads. This approach has taken them to stages all over the world, from bars to concert halls and festivals. Their eponymous 2007 album topped Ireland’s charts, while later recordings (including 11:11 and 9 Dead Alive) placed in the upper half of the Top 200. In 2019, their sixth studio album, Mettavolution, earned a Grammy. In 2023, the pair returned with In Between Thoughts…A New World, a single, album-length composition offering the addition of electronics and orchestral elements.
